You just learn to let it slide off you like water on a duck's back, let it leave nothing but cool trails of what it once was, let it roll off and hit the ground and make a puddle at your feet and hope the water doesn't rise too fast for you to keep up with and you take it one day at a time and just hope and hope and hope that it gets better eventually.
You do little things that don't matter to make yourself feel better, and you just pretend there's nothing wrong and you make yourself not care and call that desolation Peace.
As I was going down the stairs,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today-
I wish,
I WISH,
He'd go away.
